Do the Right Thing When Packaging Your Electrical Goods
Epaxs Couriers are professionals in same-day delivery, ensuring that rapid service does not compromise the consumer’s rights to receive goods in perfect condition or their ability to return faulty goods. We have an extensive selection of trucks to meet all of your trader delivery requirements, including the sending and receiving of electrical equipment. This could range from white goods such as refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, clothes dryers, and washing machines to televisions, monitors, and other display equipment.
To ensure that an electrical item arrives safely and in good shape, you have to give some time and effort to prepare your parcel for shipment, thereby upholding the standards expected under the Consumer Rights Act for the delivery of non-faulty goods.
Assuming that the electrical item you intend to be shipped is indeed appropriate for delivery, you must then properly package it. You’ll want it to arrive in good condition and unharmed, so use the proper packaging material and boxes. Fortunately, Epaxs Couriers can assist and advise you on how to send fragile products, and inform you about your rights under the Consumer Rights Act for a refund or replacement if they arrive faulty.
Why is it important to use the right box?
Consider the size and type of box you will need. Don’t choose a too small box; remember that your item will require significantly more space once it has been covered in bubble wrap. It is recommended to use a thick, sturdy cardboard box that can withstand a lot of strain. This is important because if your box ends up stacked below other boxes, it may smash under the weight, causing damage, which we obviously do not want.
You might also want to try double boxing. This is especially important when shipping a large and heavy item, but it is not equally important if you are merely shipping something small and light.
Use the proper packaging for your parcel
There are various options for packaging your electrical items. Some people prefer to use newspaper, which is not always a good option because it is quite thin and can become flattened during delivery.
The ideal approach to package electrical items is with a combination of packing peanuts (often foam) and bubble wrap. Bubble wrap comes in three sizes: small bubbles for fragile and light goods, medium bubbles for larger and less sensitive items, and huge bubbles, which are usually used to cover empty space rather than to protect items.
Once you’ve chosen the bubble size, wrap it around the item in numerous layers, but don’t use too much. If the person who received it is unable to remove the item, they risk breaking it while trying to remove the bothersome bubble wrap. When taping the bubble wrap, use cello tape or masking tape, which are easier to remove than parcel tape.
Packing peanuts are used to fill the box so that your item does not shift or break during shipment. We discovered that one of the best methods to use them is to fill two or three inches of the box with packing peanuts before inserting the item, as close to the centre as possible. Then, simply place the item on top of the layer of peanuts and proceed to fill the box.
If you are double boxing, make sure to place packing peanuts between the outer and inner boxes. This should prevent the inner box from moving around.
Ensure that the label is correct
Each shipment is important to us, and we strive to accomplish your same-day delivery on schedule, safely, and in the exact condition in which it was sent. We will handle any parcel from your organisation with care, but it’s always a good idea to put a reminder on the box itself, so apply the ‘FRAGILE’ or ‘Handle With Care’ labels on the outside of the box. If your item must be opened or left in a specific orientation, you can buy ‘This way up’ stickers. Stickers on the exterior box will alert the delivery driver to the existence of a fragile item, allowing them to handle it with caution.
By properly packaging your electrical products, you not only ensure that they are as safe as possible, but you also protect yourself in the event that your item is damaged during delivery.
